Character Info
Name: Olivia Colomar, goes by the name Sombra
Canon: Overwatch
Canon Point: Escaping a warehouse explosion after a fight with Zarya in the Overwatch comic Zarya: Searching.
Age: 30
Background: wiki
Personality:
PLAYFUL ❚ Even though Sombra does happen to be a member of a terrorist organization, she has an immensely contrasting personality to that of her counterparts, being far more outgoing and personable than her teammates. Probably not a difficult thing to do when one is a professed psychopath and the other an emotionless assassin. During the infiltration of Volskaya Industries' headquarters, Sombra shuts a door before Reaper is able to pass through. Sombra occasionally holds a strikingly friendly nature to those around her, many of her lines spoken to other Overwatch characters being little teasing jabs here and there, some albeit with a bit more of an antagonizing feel to them. However her most iconic line is the "boop", in which she proceeds to press her finger against someone's nose. Mind you, she is thirty years old. She definitely has a youthful sort of spirit to her.
HONORABLE ❚ It's probably difficult to imagine that someone whose occupation and single goal in mind is to infiltrate secret information held by high, governmental powers, but it is important to remember that Sombra began her life as a hacker in efforts to bring justice to a dilapidated, struggling country left nearly in ruin after the Omnic Crisis. She lent her assistance with a local gang in infiltrating the Mexican government, fighting against the corruption that was leaving their poor struggling to live their lives while the rich prospered. She was assuredly risking her life, and even now that she has a target on her head from investigating a nearly worldwide global conspiracy, she remains to do what she does best to uncover the truth. While she might not be associating with the most pure-hearted of individuals, Sombra continues to use her abilities for what she believes is right, regardless if others do or do not see it quite the same way.
INTELLIGENT ❚ You need to have some brains in order to be a hacker, one who is wanted preferably dead by the entire world because of the amount of secrets you've unwoven. Even as a child working independently on her own before joining the Mexican gang known as Los Muertos, Sombra was an immense threat because of her skill, which is exactly why she had gone into hiding only to eventually return even more skilled and threatening. When you explore the stage of Dorado, it is possible to find Sombra's hideout (or home), where evidence of her work remains as well as constructed translocators, implying a large degree of Sombra's tech was handmade by herself.
DECEPTIVE ❚ Her work is essentially reliant upon hiding within the shadows and going without detection, but it also means a lack of trust upon anyone who may disrupt the outcome of her goal. While it would be reasonable to assume Sombra holds a degree of trust with Talon, the terrorist organization she currently works with, the events of the attack on Volskaya only prove that Sombra has quite a lot hidden under her sleeves, and she potentially may be working under her own initiatives. Instead of assassinating the CEO, Katya, which had been the initial plan, Sombra allows her to willingly go free. It is also a very neat little tidbit that one of her newest animations includes her playing with a marionette fashioned after Reaper. Who is really pulling the strings here?
INVASIVE ❚ In case it wasn't obvious, it's not exactly easy to hide anything from a Hacker. Sombra is prithee to an assortment of information about the other Overwatch characters, commonly taunting and teasing them about things regarding their past. She's also shown to hold some sort of obsessive curiosity in regards to Soldier 76, a former war buddy of Reaper's. There is nothing that can be hidden from her, as her need for uncovering truths and piecing together complex puzzles is very keenly a part of her personality.
COMPETITIVE ❚ Sombra holds multiple voice lines which display this very headstrong, combative nature, certainly of utility to the organization Talon in achieving their goals. The best example of this nature is one in which Sombra shares a set of lines with D.va, where she argues against the implication that being a hacker means she is a cheater. However this proves to be a lie, as there is an instance of her hacking the scoreboard of a video game D.va had formerly topped at number one, dropping her down to number two with Sombra taking her place. She loves a challenge, and there is nothing more she enjoys than being the best at what she does.
Powers:
❚ Competency in handling a fully automatic machine pistol.
❚ Hacking abilities. She can essentially hack through any network possible and manipulate and control any sort of electronic device. For the time being her hacking will be disabled.
❚ Stealth through the use of an invisibility function. This will also be nerfed completely.
❚ Sombra has created compact projectiles known as translocators, where she can essentially teleport to whichever location she has set a translocator. They will only be functional if set upon a solid surface and not be used in mid-air, though one translocator will have infinite uses. The item itself can only be used once per day however.
❚ Sombra's ultimate ability is called EMP, in which she releases electromagnetic energy across a wide area of space essentially incapacitating weapons and electronic components of enemies within that range. It's a big ol' hacking bomb basically. This will be nerfed completely as it treads a little too close to godmodding territory.
❚ Due to the cybernetic graft of her spine, Sombra can utilize her hacking and stealth at her own will. This also allows her to have immediate control of her infiltration skills through her hacking of computers and any technology she could get her hands on. Once she regains use of her abilities (because she will definitely want the use of them back), I will have a permissions post in regards to what information she can and can't access in regards to players and their communicators and will never tread beyond the limits of what she's allowed to hack and discover in the game. If this needs to be cleared up or discussed further then please let me know!
